“Alone in the Lily Pads”
Vidharshna's eye-catching graphic novel 'Alone in the Lily Pads' was created using gouache on watercolour paper, bringing out a unique vibrancy, with the artist's sense of colour theory.
This graphic novel is based on her very early childhood memories from Jakarta. However, she decided to put a spin on it to show the story from the perspective of a frog.
Vidharshna's graphic novel may come off as vibrant and childish, but she depicts her interpretation of the emotion of abandonment. She wants to create more graphic novels that depict concepts that parents may think are difficult for children to understand, which is why she incorporates the use of playful character design and engaging colours.
